June 2026

De Paul House is part of the social infrastructure that holds communities together. Every day, we provide practical support, foster connection, champion advocacy, and create hope for people facing housing and social challenges.

At De Paul House the increase in demand has continued. To date, we have received 534 enquiries for housing. This translates to 664 adults and 705 children in desperate need.

We are aware that as individuals, we can often feel overwhelmed when looking at the pressing issues facing New Zealanders today.
In this newsletter, we celebrate the positive and acknowledge the many good people working to support De Paul House.

Local Businesses and Community Tackling Poverty

We are fortunate to have a wonderful ‘Community of Caring’ who arrive daily at the office bearing practical, quality donations to support our food bank, our stores of household/kitchenware, bedding, towels, clothing and furniture.

Coffee for a Can & Shampoo for a Brew

This wonderful event ran in May, initiated by Ben of Be Speciality Coffee, and James and Carol of Mulan Café Restaurant. Be Speciality Coffee supplied the coffee, and Mulan the milk and coffee machine. The local community responded and we received a generous supply of food and shampoo.

Family 2 Family

New World Long Bay has supported De Paul House through their annual food drive once again. This is a welcome boost to the shelves of our food bank that is in much higher demand this year.

Transitional Housing
Ex-Resident

De Paul House really helped us with everything we needed, finding a place to live, getting food and clothes, sorting out school things for the kids, and even showing us how to handle our money. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.

Mother of three children

Their dedication to helping people, isn’t just a job to them. It’s evident in how they go above and beyond to ensure I felt heard and supported every step of the way. Without the food and clothing support my children would have been cold and hungry. Thank you so much.

Keys to a Brighter Tomorrow

We are looking forward to the official Blessing and Opening of our social housing complex in Birkdale.

On Wednesday 15 July, Bishop Stephen Lowe will be officiating at this event.
